Why not make this year’s holiday more special by putting an eco friendly Christmas tree in your home?
Christmas Tree 2ft – P200, 15ft – P9000
This is made of twigs which are nailed on a wooden trunk, trimmed to shape like a Christmas tree, and brushed with white paint for a White Christmas theme.
The leftover twigs used in trimming is still recycled and made into a wreath!
Wreath – P250
These can be found right along Roxas Boulevard, near the Philippine Economic Zone Authority.
But if you’re feeling a bit more creative, you can opt to make your own eco friendly decor!
I had a chance to talk to Christine Vergara of EcoWaste Coalition who gave us a reminder when making our own decors.
w/ Christine Vergara of EcoWaste Coalition, a public interest network pursuing sustainable solutions to waste, climate change and chemical issues.
According to her, if you use natural materials, there’s no problem in disposing it. It’ll also be better if you don’t paint the recycled materials because paint has chemicals and it can’t be mixed in the compost anymore.
So instead of using paint, just decorate your eco friendly decors with lights, ribbon, old cards, or whatever you can find at home. This is our chance to release our creativity!
Not only will this save us money, but most importantly, it’s our small way of helping save Mother Earth.
