Founded in 1989, The Army and Navy Club was the first American social club to be established in the Philippines. It closed down a couple of years back but was declared a National Historical Landmark in 1991.
I remember coming to Army and Navy Club as a child for swimming lessons so I got excited when just this year 2017, the place is back in operations as the historic boutique hotel Rizal Park Hotel. It still features the Army and Navy Club inspired design.
I love how clean and elegant this place looks. Everywhere you look is pristine white.
The guest rooms have a Filipino-Colonial design that offers comfort and luxury.
The all-day dining restaurant offers a la carte dishes at an affordable price. I was surprised to see some items starting at only P200+. The breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet will surely be enjoyed, too. Though the spread is not as diverse as other high-end hotels, it still provides quality and delectable food.
Rizal Park Hotel is still on its soft opening so understandably there’s room for improvement. At my time of stay, the gym consisted of just two machines, no swimming pool, and even the elevator broke down for a couple of hours.
However, the beauty of the place more than made up for it. I had a pleasant time staying here for the long weekend. 🙂
